A hard fought match.

Game 1 went my way as the Allies:

tank commander (Allies) 6 (23) to Merlinade (Axis) 2 ( 8 )

I killed off both panzers on my first turn which is a great way to start. The battle then was waged on my left and also my right as I took out three infantry for a 5 to 0 lead. I could have tried for the 6 to 0 win on my next turn but would need 4 hits with 5 shots on an infantry with no retreat but choose not to try that. The battle was decided on my left after I lost two infantry there as I eliminated a 2 fig infantry to end the game.

I had 34 shots to 17 for Merlinde and outhit him 68 to 47 -- ouch!

Game 2 was a close one.

I lose one panzer right away but the other was able to fall back although it was hit twice and never got into the battle. Two bad as I held ARMOR ASSAULT and if both survived turn one they would have attacked the town. I was able to kill off two infantry on my right early on and a third a few turns later for the match win and at least 3 pts. I pressed on both flanks after the arty moved out of the town but the Allied defense held strong and I lost three infantry near the town. My BARRAGE took out the wounded arty which helped my cause as I had two weak units on the board near my baseline. But AIR POWER killed off one of these for a 5 to 4 Allied lead. The Allies had a chance to win on my left with two 1d attacks but missed after I missed killing off a 1 fig infantry on my right. I then played TFH and ordered two infantry to attack. My only right infantry closed in on the town and had 2d against a 2 fig infantry there but only got 1 hit. My 3 fig infantry was then eliminated in a very close contest. A well played defense defeated me. I may have not been patience enough but the move with the arty forced my hand so to speak and I came very close, so no complaints.

I fired off 41 shots to 65 for Merlinde with both of having a 46% hit rate.

Match score:
